Victor Osimhen went back to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday 21 October 2026 and scored, but he would not celebrate. After his 61st-minute goal sealed Galatasaray's 4-2 win at Lille, the Nigeria striker made a heart sign to the home supporters.

Lille were where Osimhen made his name in France: 18 goals in 38 appearances in 2019/20 before his move to Napoli. When he was substituted in the 85th minute, the crowd stood to applaud him.

A wild first half

Yunus Akgün put Galatasaray ahead after 65 seconds, Soriba Diaoune scored twice for Lille, and it was 2-2 at half-time. Galatasaray's third, early in the second half, was finally recorded as an own goal. Osimhen then finished first time from Barış Alper Yılmaz's pass. A penalty awarded to him was overturned after a VAR review.

It was Galatasaray's first win of the league phase after two defeats. Next up in the Champions League is Stuttgart in Istanbul on 3 November. Read his full story on our Victor Osimhen profile.
