Who is Gregor Kobel?
Gregor Kobel is the Swiss goalkeeper of Borussia Dortmund and the Switzerland national team.
He made his professional debut for Hoffenheim in 2018, joined VfB Stuttgart on loan and then permanently, and moved to Dortmund in 2021 for a reported €15 million. In 2023-24 he helped Dortmund reach the Champions League final, the first Swiss goalkeeper to get there, and was named in the competition’s Team of the Season.
He became Switzerland’s first-choice keeper after Yann Sommer retired. At the 2026 World Cup he was man of the match in the round-of-16 win over Colombia, saving a penalty in the shoot-out as Switzerland reached the quarter-finals for the first time since 1954.
