The king of the marathon is still winning. Eliud Kipchoge won the Melbourne Marathon on Sunday 11 October 2026 in 2:09:10, two seconds inside the course record, and finished 1 minute 25 seconds clear of Australia's Thomas Do Canto.

It was the Kenyan's first marathon victory since Berlin in 2023. Earlier this year he was 16th in Cape Town in May and 12th in Porto Alegre in July, results that had many asking whether, at 41, his racing days were nearly over.

“I believe that my body is still peaking.”
