East Africa ruled the streets of Chicago again on Sunday 11 October 2026. Kenya's Amos Kipruto won the men's race in a personal best of 2:01:09, and Ethiopia's Hawi Feysa successfully defended her title.

Kipruto finished 1 minute 47 seconds ahead of Ethiopia's Tadese Takele (2:02:56), with Milkesa Mengesha third. Defending champion Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda was only fourth in 2:04:18; his coach blamed a hamstring problem. It was the first time in 32 road races since 2015 that Kiplimo had finished off the podium.
